There are still corners of Goa where the day seems to follow an older rhythm. Where narrow village roads disappear beneath coconut palms, old homes sit quietly behind garden walls, and the only urgency is deciding whether the afternoon should be spent at the beach or by the pool. Cansaulim, one of South Goa’s quieter coastal villages located just 25 mins from Dabolim Airport, is one such corner—lesser known, more tranquil and wonderfully removed from the familiar holiday crowds. Easy to reach, yet once here, it feels wonderfully hidden from plain sight.
Tucked into this slower landscape of Cansaulim is Villa Mira, a boutique 03 bedroom private pool villa near Uttorda beach and Benaulim beach in South Goa, created artistically by its owners. A boutique Goan-Portuguese vacation home in the countryside with an expansive garden, it reveals a different side of Goa from the moment you enter. Floating pathways move through tropical greenery, past a quiet fish pond and into spaces designed around being together. An open kitchen and dining area invites long, unhurried meals, while the living spaces are filled with books, music, art and collected objects. At the centre, an open courtyard holds the private pool, surrounded by a tropical garden.

THE SPACE
Artistically designed by DNA Projects, Villa Mira is a design-led villa in South Goa that brings together the openness of Kerala homes with the old-world character of Portuguese Goa, creating a home with a distinct personal character.
Lime-washed walls, laterite-stone pillars, red-slate sloping roofs, pool-side verandahs, wooden doors and windows, and Moroccan tiles form the architectural vocabulary of the home. Rustic and natural accents and an earthy palette keep the interiors warm, while the open planning allows the tropical landscape to become part of the home.
Enter through the main gate and floating pathways lead through the property, connecting its different spaces. A fish pond sits quietly along the way, before the house opens towards the dining area, living room, lounge and courtyard. At the centre, the private pool sits within the open courtyard, creating an easy flow between the interiors and outdoors.
The open island kitchen and generous dining area form the heart of the home, designed for meals and conversations that take their time. Adjoining the pool, the living room is a more intimate space for deep conversations, with a massage chair and art adding to its relaxed character. Among its details is a Buddha painting featuring real crystals—one of many unexpected touches that reflect the homeowners' eye for the unusual.
A different lounge area has a more laid-back character, with comfortable sofa seating, a television, books and speakers. Classic rock artwork across the walls gives this space its own personality, making it an easy place to settle in for an evening.
Throughout the house, hand-crafted furniture, distinctive lamps, artful chandeliers and collected objects add layers without making the interiors feel overly styled. The result is a home that feels personal, expressive and naturally lived-in. Perfect for families and groups of friends who are looking for a different kind of luxury.
THE ROOMS
The three bedrooms at Villa Mira continue the home’s warm, lived-in character, each with its own connection to the outdoors.
Natural materials, soft colours and thoughtful furnishings create rooms that feel comfortable and understated. Large wooden windows and doors bring in natural light and frame the tropical landscape, while warm lighting adds a cosy quality as the day winds down.
One bedroom opens directly into the garden, bringing the greenery right to the room. The other two connect to the home’s floating pathways along the pool.
Together, the three bedrooms make Villa Mira a great house as an Offbeat barefoot luxury villa for families and groups who want to spend their days together, while still having a private corner to retreat to.

A full breakfast is complimentary for our guests.

We follow a hybrid meal plan - where we charge INR 1800/- per meal as cooking charges and food supplies bills are passed on to the guest at actuals. You are served in the cozy dining space.

We request all our guests to inform the staff about their meal preferences well in advance. Zomato readily delivers meals to the door from many of the popular cafes around Cansaulem within 30-40 minutes.

A barbecue soirée can be organised on prior intimation.

Sustainable Travel: We do not provide mineral water bottles or aerated drinks and encourage our guests to avoid or take back their plastic garbage. Clean drinking water in bottles is provided.

Rooms are offered on double occupancy up until 06 guests. If there less than 6 guests, rooms will be allocated accordingly and other rooms will be kept locked. We can accommodate 2 more guests beyond 6 guests on extra mattresses.

Electricity: Electricity is usually not a problem, however, being at an offbeat location, if there is an unprecedented power outage, we have power backup to keep the lights and some power points running. All rooms are equipped with ceiling fans and air-conditioners.

We can organise separate accommodation for drivers or male house-helps. Please inform us at the time of booking. Charges are additional.

Outside guests are not allowed during the stay. The property is only accessible to guests who have booked with us.

Mornings at Hushstay x Villa Mira begin with a gentle sea breeze, a warm breakfast, and views of swaying palms bathed in soft light. Step out for a short walk through the quiet village lanes of Cansaulim or settle in with a book and a cup of freshly brewed coffee by the private pool.
A short drive leads to Three Kings Chapel—steeped in legend but rewarding for its expansive coastal vistas. Beach lovers can head to the quiet shores of Utorda Beach, Benaulim or further along the southern coastline. Back at the villa, unwind with board games, books, a good movie or a stretch on a yoga mat. For meals out, stay right in Cansaulim to enjoy refined continental plates at Bonita or vibrant Pan-Asian flavors and sushi at Mama Miso. For a slightly longer drive down the coast, indulge in fine-dining masterpieces at Cavatina in Benaulim or take in the breezy, feet-in-the-sand atmosphere at The Southern Deck. If there is something special to celebrate, pick up a rich local cake or dessert nearby to enjoy under the stars.

One of our favourite things about Villa Mira was being able to walk to Cansaulim Beach through the village. It takes around 20 minutes, and the walk itself is beautiful—quiet lanes, palms and that lovely, unhurried Goan atmosphere. We had lunch at Mama Miso one day and dinner at Bonita on another, both close to the beach, and simply walked back to the villa afterwards. A swim in the pool or a movie in the lounge made for the perfect end to the day. It’s such an easy, enjoyable way to experience Goa without constantly getting into a car.

We went with our parents and children, and the house worked wonderfully for all of us. There was enough space to be together without feeling crowded, and also enough corners to disappear into when you wanted some quiet. The pool and garden were used constantly, of course. Most days followed a very simple rhythm of breakfast, swimming, lunch, naps and sitting around talking. It was exactly the kind of family break we needed.

We’ve stayed in some very beautiful homes around Goa, but Villa Mira felt different. It has a strong architectural identity without feeling like a showpiece. The house is full of small details that you keep noticing as you spend time there—the tiles, old-style windows, artwork and the way the spaces open into one another. It feels considered, but not overly curated. We ended up spending far more time at the villa than we had planned.
