Tucked away in the serene village of Naurangpur, Hushstay x Walden Living sits at the foothills of the Shivaliks, just an hour’s drive from Chandigarh. The journey takes you through the quintessential Punjab countryside—past lush fields, tree-lined roads, and charming pinds (villages) where life moves to the rhythm of the land. The landscape, dotted with narrow streams and rolling hills, provides a peaceful backdrop to a place crafted for relaxation and renewal.

With 04 cottages featuring expansive glass walls, nature is a constant companion, blending the comfort of your stay with the tranquility of the outdoors. THE SPACE
Inspired by Henry David Thoreau’s Walden, this serene farm-stay retreat on the border of Punjab and Himachal offers a perfect harmony of nature, sustainability, and minimalism. At Hushstay x Walden Living, the space reflects a philosophy of slow living, wellness, and deep connection with the earth. Surrounded by verdant farmland, the property is built using sustainable practices, with each structure designed to harmonize with its environment.
The four individual cottages are hidden in the vast farmland with a forested backdrop. Two larger "Suite Cottages" feature private plunge pools, while two smaller, cosier "Secluded Cottages" have intimate porches overlooking the estate. All structures, seamlessly blend with their surroundings, adapting to seasonal changes. Mud walls, made using the "Rammed Earth" technique serve to insulate you during winter months while keeping you cool and refreshed throughout the summer. The floor-to-ceiling large glass walls invite the outdoors into the cottages and living spaces, ensuring an abundance of natural light and blurring the boundary between nature and shelter.

At the heart of Walden Living is the common living area, a warm and inviting space where meals are served, and guests can gather. The library here is stocked with books on subjects such as mindfulness and healthy living offering a perfect spot to pause and reflect. Meals can also be enjoyed outdoors, overlooking the lush farm, with produce harvested just before it reaches the table. Outside, a telescope awaits for stargazing, making the evenings as enriching as the days.

From the linen to the wall décor, everything has been tastefully handpicked and curated to showcase traditional artisans and emerging talent. The design principles prioritize energy efficiency, utilizing locally sourced materials like mud and sheesham wood to minimize fuel consumption and reduce environmental impact. Each cottage’s architecture is optimized to harness natural light and ventilation, with east-facing windows that welcome the refreshing purvai winds and mud walls that provide natural insulation, keeping the spaces comfortably warm in winter and cool in summer.
