Winding roads lead you to a beautiful little hamlet called Jalna: A little village, about 30 km from the popular hill town of Almora.
Tucked away in a peaceful corner of Jalna, is this peaceful and cosy 02 bedroom cottage called Hushstay x Raahat located on the same premises as Hushstay x Sukoon Homestay.
Raahat, as the name suggests, is an escape from the mundane: A place where you can let go of all your worries and just be.
At Raahat you are welcomed by lush greenery, the melodious chirping of a variety of birds and the sight of snow-covered peaks in the distance. As the sun goes down, the skies turn to shades of red, orange and violet and are later covered with a million stars.
Feast on home-made Kumaoni meals prepared by our in-house cook, take a walk to the nearby village, hike up to the hilltop to watch the sunset or just laze around and let our staff cater to all your needs with the utmost attention.
Our recommendation: Hushstay x Raahat (02 rooms) is recommended for groups of 04 -06 guests. If you are a smaller group, you should opt for Hushstay x Sukoon which is a more exclusive space for smaller groups or couples. Alternatively, if you are a group of 06 - 12 guests, you may book both units: Hushstay x Sukoon and Hushstay x Raahat.

THE SPACE
Hushstay x Raahat is a unique stone-clad cottage perched at 5500 ft. The place is surrounded by virgin pine, oak and rhododendron trees and overlooks the majestic Himalayan peaks such as Trishul and Nanda Devi.
From the cosy rooms with their own indoor fireplace to the outdoor dining area with views to admire, every nook and corner of Hushstay x Raahat spells peace and tranquillity.
As you walk down a little further from the cottage, you will also find Hushstay x Sukoon Homestay which you can book alongside Hushstay x Raahat if you are a bigger group. Have a look at it here.
THE ROOMS
Hushstay x Raahat consists of 02 beautifully decorated and spacious rooms with large windows overlooking serene surroundings.
Inside the rooms, you will find elements of the local kumaoni culture: The thick walls have been finished with a mix of mud and locally found stone, the lamps, as well as other decors, have been made by the locals of the surrounding villages and the roof has a wooden cladding to give the rooms a warm feeling.
Comfortable beddings coupled with an indoor fireplace provide the warmth and comfort needed on a cold winter evening and the large windows allow for an inflow of fresh mountain air on a summer day. On a clear weather day, you are able to spot snow-covered Himalayan peaks from the comfort of your bed.
Step outside the room and you will find the same old-world charm reflected in the private sit-out space which is just perfect for that evening tea or a lazy afternoon.

Only Breakfast is included when you book a stay.

Lunch, Dinner and Evening Snacks are can be purchased and paid for at the property itself. Meals at Hushstay x Raahat consist of local homemade Kumaoni Cuisine. The meals depend on the raw material available locally.

We have a caretaker and an in-house cook and the kitchen is made for their use only. We do not allow guests to carry outside food or raw material for cooking.

Please ask our caretaker about what can be prepared on a particular day depending on what is available locally.
Getting There:

Raahat is located about 30 kms from Almora Town within the premises of Hushstay x Sukoon. Nearest Railway Station – Kathgodam at a distance of 85 Km. Nearest Airport – Pantnagar is at a distance of around 118 Km. We can organize a cab for a pick-up and drop from Kathgodam railway station or Pantnagar airport at an additional cost.

If you are driving – it is important that you have experience in hill driving as the last 01 Km to the house is a dirt road and it may get muddy during rains.

Parking is available at the premises and from the parking to the main house, it’s a downhill slope of about 50 m.

Slow and soft music is okay, but please do not play loud music. You are in the middle of nature.

Services of the staff are available until 10:00 PM. Dinner will be served before 10:00 PM.

We are pet-friendly. If you are coming with your pet, make sure they are well-mannered and that nothing is damaged. In case, there is damage, the same will have to be paid for at the time of checkout as per actual costs.

We try not to harm the environment as much as we can and hence the wood for the bonfire has to be purchased beforehand. There is an additional cost of INR 500 per bonfire session (02 hours). Please note that if it has rained the previous day, sourced wood might be wet and bonfire might not be arrangeable. We provide refillable water bottles in each room, bottled water can be sourced on prior request at an additional cost.

Hushstay x Raahat is a part of Hushstay x Sukoon. Both cottages are located on the same premises and share the same kitchen. We recommend Raahat for groups of 04 - 06 guests while the standalone kumaoni cottage at Sukoon is recommended for groups of 02-04 guests. You may book both if you are a bigger group.

Raahat is offered exclusively to only one group at a time, the price varies depending on the number of guests. Please select the exact number of guests while booking.

We have 02 rooms. Rooms are offered on double occupancy up until 04 guests and other rooms are locked. We will offer extra mattresses in the rooms if you are a group of more than 04 guests.

Please note that like any other home in the mountains, we do not have an air conditioner at the property. The thick stone walls keep the place warm in winters and cool in summers.

The Weather: The temperature is similar to that of Almora, only a little lower since we are surrounded by lush greenery. Wifi and Connectivity:

There is a good 4G connectivity for Airtel and Jio users, unless the weather is bad. A JioFi dongle can also be arranged on request.

AROUND HUSHSTAY X RAAHAT
As the name suggests, Hushstay x SUKOON and RAAHAT are all about peace and tranquility. A place where you can let go of everything and spend time doing nothing at all.
Laze around on the hammock, read a book or gaze endlessly at the snow-covered peaks in the distance. Hike up to the hilltop to watch the most blissful sunset and get a 180-degree view of the surroundings. Explore the nearby villages and an old British bungalow on foot.
If you'd like to head out, you can drive down to the famous Dol Ashram or to the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary for a jungle safari, Kasar Devi for the views and cafes and Almora town for the local sweet dish called "Baal Mithai".
