Some places don’t ask you to slow down, they simply make it impossible not to. In Seraj Valley near Tirthan, this shift happens quietly. The noise begins to fall away, the air feels lighter, and the only constant is the sound of the river moving throughout the valley.
A little further in lies Jibhi, a small Himalayan village known for its wooden homes, orchard-lined paths, and easy, unhurried pace. With the mountains of Manali & Kasol on one side and Shimla on the other, the journey towards Tirthan Valley gradually leaves behind highways and noise, easing into narrower roads, forests, and the slower rhythm of the valley.
It is here, just along the Jibhi river, that Hushstay x Glenbrook Castle reveals itself - a unique 03-bedroom Riverside Castle that has remained quietly hidden in plain sight for over three decades. Built over 40 years ago by a Dutch-Indian couple, the home sits magically amidst peach, plum, and apricot trees.
At first glance it feels as if you have stepped into a fairytale. Mornings begin with a stroll through the orchards, afternoons drift between quiet corners and riverside pauses, and evenings gather around a bonfire and music. Step inside, and the mood instantly changes - warm decor, thick stone walls, aesthetic corners and the aura of a bygone era.

THE SPACE
Built nearly four decades ago and carefully restored after 28 years, Hushstay x Glenbrook Castle is a cottage carries the character of a mountain structure shaped by time. Constructed using river stones, solid wood, and locally crafted elements, the home stands with a quiet, castle-like presence, defined more by its materiality and form than anything ornamental.
While the outdoors feels open and closely tied to nature, the experience shifts noticeably as you step inside. The interiors feel more enclosed, intimate, and rooted in a different time. Cast iron chandeliers, soft ambient lighting, carved wooden details, and thick stone walls come together to create a space that feels almost preserved, less like a modern home, and more like a mountain castle that has quietly existed for decades.
The living area sits at the centre of the home, anchored by a fireplace built from stone sourced from the nearby Jibhi river, detailed with engraved mountain crystals. Large windows frame the orchards and surrounding forest, maintaining a visual connection to the outdoors, while an adjoining kitchen sits alongside, keeping the space connected and lived-in, still retaining original ovens from over four decades ago, quietly reflecting the kind of design that has aged with intention.
Upstairs, the home opens into three bedrooms, each with balconies overlooking the valley - quiet and personal, designed less as focal points and more as extensions of the home’s stillness. One of the rooms, with its distinct round structure, leads to a tucked-away reading room, while above it, a hidden meditation space, a peaceful sanctuary where guests can open the windows to hear the flowing river below or close them to sit in complete stillness.
Outdoors, the garden stretches toward the Jibhi river, becoming a natural extension of the space, used for bonfires, picnics, and slow evenings by the water.
THE ROOMS
The first floor houses three bedrooms, designed with balconies that overlook the surrounding valley. These balconies become quiet personal corners, perfect for soaking in the gentle morning sun or watching the hills slowly change colour at dusk. A small lounge area on the floor offers additional space to read or unwind.
Two of the bedrooms share a similar layout and design language, making them well-suited for families or close groups travelling together. The third sits within a distinct round tower-like structure, offering a more private and character-filled stay within the home.
Large windows set beneath sloping roofs bring in soft natural light through the day, while framing views of the surrounding orchards and valley. Across all rooms, handpicked furniture, warm upholstery, and subtle old-world details create a space that feels both restful and lived-in.
With the gentle sound of the river in the background and the mountains just beyond the windows, the rooms are designed less as places to stay — and more as spaces to slow down and settle in.

Meals are prepared by our in-house chef and are made of delectable homemade vegetarian cuisine. Choose from our multi-cuisine menu and be served el fresco in the garden or by the river.

A barbecue soirée can be organised at an additional cost and on prior intimation.

A menu is shared upon booking confirmation. We request all our guests inform the staff about their meal preferences well in advance.

This place is offered exclusively to only one group at a time, the price starts at 04 guests and varies depending on the number of guests. Please select the exact number of guests while booking.

Rooms are offered on double occupancy up until 06 guests and other rooms are locked. We will offer an extra bed/mattress if you are more than 06 guests and can accommodate a maximum of 08 guests only.

Electricity: Electricity is usually not a problem, however, being at an offbeat location, if there is an unprecedented power outage, we have a genset as power backup to keep the lights and some power points running. This might also offer you an opportunity to switch off and gaze at the starry night sky. We promise you will not regret it.

A scenic one-hour drive leads to Jalori Pass, from where a gentle trek takes you to Raghupur Fort, rewarding visitors with breathtaking 360-degree views of the surrounding valleys. Nature lovers can also visit Serolsar Lake, a serene forest lake known for its still waters and peaceful trails. Closer to Jibhi, explore the unique rock formations and river pools of Mini Thailand, a hidden gem shaped by years of flowing water.
And when you wish to slow down, charming local cafés in Jibhi are just a short walk away.

The location is perfect — close enough to Jibhi to step out for a coffee, but still tucked away enough to feel completely cut off. The river right next to the garden is the highlight. We spent most of our time just sitting outside.

I think what makes this place stand out is that the structure itself is the experience. Between the stonework, the tower-like room, and the way the house sits next to the river, it doesn’t feel like something built recently. It feels like it belongs there. We didn’t end up doing much sightseeing because the house and its surroundings felt complete on their own.
