THE EXPERIENCE

" When you stand at the edge of the world, between sky and water, between silence and sound—you realise peace was never meant to be found. It was meant to be felt" - Anonymous.

There are places you travel to, and then there are places that travel through you—quietly, profoundly, shifting something within. About five hours ahead of Chandigarh and about 03 hours before Dharamshala, where the Dhauladhars rise over the majestic Pong Dam Lake, the road slips into a forest and winds along still waters that seem to hold the sky. The world begins to fade, the air grows cooler, and you feel as though you’ve reached the edge of everything.

It’s here, at the base of the Dhauladhars and at the edge of the Pong Lake, that you arrive at Hushstay x Lands End Retreat—a two-bedroom lake-side sanctuary that feels almost like a private island. Hidden at the end of a winding path through whispering forests, with private access to the lake, it sits where land, water, mountain, and sky meet in perfect harmony. The view stretches endlessly, and time seems to slow in rhythm with the ripples of the lake.

Inside, the home is warm and soulful—wooden interiors, handcrafted furniture, and windows that let nature spill in. The garden hums with life, lemon and mango trees perfuming the breeze, while books on travel, nature, and healing fill the shelves. Mornings begin with chai by the lake, afternoons drift into quiet reading, and evenings gather around a bonfire under the stars.

At Lands End Retreat, the noise of the world falls away, leaving only stillness, reflection, and the rare feeling of being completely one with nature.

THE SPACE

At Hushstay x Lands End Retreat, every corner feels like a quiet conversation between land, water, sky, and mountain. Perched at what feels like a private island at the edge of the Pong Dam reservoir, the home opens up to views so rare they feel almost unreal—forests fading into the lake, the lake meeting the horizon, and the Dhauladhar peaks standing watch in the distance. The sense of isolation here is profound yet comforting, as though the world has slowed just enough for you to catch your breath.

Inside, the space blends simplicity with soul. Handcrafted wooden furniture, curated hand-painted artworks, and shelves lined with books on travel and philosophy make the home deeply personal. The living room, filled with soft light and warm textures, flows into an open kitchen and dining space designed for slow meals and easy conversations. Two spacious bedrooms, each with a private balcony, invite mornings of quiet reflection and evenings watching the sky change above the lake. Every window frames a different rhythm of nature—leaves swaying, waters glimmering, skies changing hue.

Outside, a yoga deck sits quietly in the garden, surrounded by lemon and mango trees, while the Lands’ End bench and swing by the lake offer unobstructed views of the Dhauladhars—perfect for simply sitting, breathing, and letting time dissolve. Whether you’re watching dawn unfold across the lake, reading in the garden, or listening to the forest breathe at night, the home becomes more than a retreat—it becomes a reflection of stillness itself.

THE ROOMS

Hushstay x Lands End Retreat houses 02-spacious bedrooms, each designed with rustic Indian charm and the quiet elegance of wood-style interiors.

Every corner is thoughtfully created: little nooks perfect for curling up with a book, while large windows that frame the surrounding forest, and private balconies where mornings begin with birdsong and evenings fade into stillness.

The first room called, The Stone Waltz, is a striking blend of raw natural textures and comfort. Its feature stone wall anchors the space, while wide windows and intimate reading corners make it a serene escape.

The second called, The Blue Rhapsody, carries a rustic yet vibrant energy. With hints of blue woven into its décor, it creates a calming atmosphere, perfectly complemented by views of nature spilling in from the balcony.

Whether you’re seeking stillness with a cup of chai or inspiration from the scenery outside, both bedrooms offer a blend of warmth, seclusion, and comfort, true reflections of life at the edge of the forest and lake.

THINGS TO DO

AROUND LAND'S END RETREAT

At Hushstay x Land's End Retreat, every day can be as slow or adventurous as you wish. The calm water of the lake invites you to spend quiet mornings fishing by the shore or setting out on a kayak or boat ride across the lake.

For those who love the land as much as the water, a stroll through Landhiara village opens up to blooming orchards, winding forest paths, and glimpses of everyday Himachali life. As the sun dips behind the Dhauladhars, evenings transform into experiences of their own—bonfires crackling under the stars, a lakeside barbecue, or a candlelit dinner by the water’s edge.

And for seekers of thrill, the rugged terrain is perfect for off-roading, offering both adrenaline and stunning views. Beyond the cottage, this destination is a haven for migratory birds, making it a paradise for birdwatchers & nature photographers.
