THE EXPERIENCE

"Nature always wears the colors of the spirit." – Ralph Waldo Emerson

These words by Ralph Waldo Emerson perfectly capture the essence of this charming property, picture-perfectly framed by a verdant forest dotted with sturdy oaks and fragrant rhododendrons, serving as the travellers' cosmos during their stay. True to its name, Hushstay x The White Peaks provides serene vistas of the Kumaon Himalayas, a literal embodiment of 'white peaks.' Situated at 7,500 feet in the peaceful hamlet of Gagar, just 20 kilometres from Nainital and about a seven-hour drive from Delhi, this simple mountain home offers majestic views and a warm, pet-friendly atmosphere.

Nestled within the Mahesh khan forest and accessible only by a 10 minute uphill walk, this himalayan cottage is ensconced in a bucolic and idyllic atmosphere that will inevitably tug at your heartstrings. The melodious trill of birds, the therapeutic buzzing of cicadas, and the gentle rustling of leaves accentuate the lush atmospheric reverie around this haven. This picturesque setting is perfect for a hearty walk and bird-watching experience, with each season painting a unique picture: the blooms of spring, the dappled environs of summer, the wispy stealth of monsoon mists, and the sparkling vistas of winter snow.

For those seeking a deep connection with nature, a stay at Hushstay x The White Peaks is not just a retreat but an immersive experience that transcends the ordinary. Whether you are sipping a warm cup of tea by the fireside or hiking through ancient trails, every moment here is imbued with the tranquil spirit of the Himalayas. It's a place where time slows, simple joys come into sharp focus, and you can enjoy an escape that refreshes the soul and rekindles a sense of wonder.

THE SPACE

Hushstay x The White Peaks is more than just a retreat; it's a nostalgic journey back in time, reminiscent of the days of the yore. This charming private cottage, nestled in the elusive Himalayan hamlet of Gagar in Uttarakhand, invites you to slow down and savor the simplicity of life. With its old-world architecture, Hushstay x The White Peaks exudes a timeless charm, where every corner tells a story, and every element is carefully curated to evoke a sense of familiarity and homeliness.

The cottage unfolds over two floors, with two inviting bedrooms on the first floor that open up to breathtaking views of the majestic green mountains. On clear winter days, the snow-covered peaks of Trishul and Nanda Devi grace the horizon, offering a view that is nothing short of magical. Downstairs, the living and dining area exudes warmth and comfort, with a working fireplace that invites you to curl up with an aging book or savor a cup of warm ginger tea, lovingly prepared by the attentive staff. The decor, tastefully curated with beautiful art themes, enhances the warm, calming vibe that permeates the entire space.

Outside, this mountain home offers spaces designed to make the most of the natural surroundings. The front patio is ideal for morning yoga sessions and the breath-taking views serve as an inspiration for writers and poets. A backyard provides a versatile space where your furry friends can play, or where an al-fresco breakfast can be set up, allowing you to start your day immersed in the crisp mountain air.

Hushstay x White Peaks is more than just a place to stay; it’s a carefully structured space that invites you to relax, re-energize, and connect with the beauty of the Himalayan landscape.

THE ROOMS

To birders' delight, Hushstay x The White Peaks features two cozy rooms named after locally found avian visitors - Magpie and Woodpecker, that can accommodate up to a total of four adults.

Both rooms offer naturally well-lit spaces that encourage a lazy lounge on the plush bed with a book or making use of the study table which can come in handy as a remote working station.

Each room is done up keeping elegant sensibilities in mind that are not only visually appealing but also functionally adequate. Rest assured your slumber here promises to be as sound as the ones back home.
