THE EXPERIENCE

" Here, the first light belongs to the peaks… and to you.”

There’s a place where mornings don’t rush in—they arrive like a slow pour of golden light through tall deodars, the air carrying the faint sweetness of pine, and birdcalls stretching lazily across the valley. Cradled in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand, this serene escape is framed by forests and endless sky, with Mukteshwar, Nainital, and Almora just a scenic drive away. It’s the kind of setting where time loosens its grip, and the wilderness feels both infinite and close enough to touch.

In the midst of these woods, Hushstay x Kamet stands—a one-bedroom designer studio cabin crafted entirely from locally sourced wood, its warm grains and textures folding seamlessly into the landscape. Named after one of the snow-covered peaks it overlooks, the stay captures the "romance of a cabin in the woods" while embracing the comfort of modern living. Oversized windows hold the mountains in view, mornings begin with coffee cradled on the porch, and every contemporary comfort sits quietly in harmony with its rustic soul. Fruit trees sway in the breeze, a yoga deck catches the first sun, and an in-house café serves up wood-fired pizzas and shakes perfect for slow, unhurried afternoons.

Here, days drift at their own pace—footsteps tracing leafy trails, hands brushing against low-hanging fruit, eyes following clouds as they dissolve over distant peaks. By evening, the cabin glows from within, a warm lantern in the forest, inviting you to settle in with a glass of wine and nothing but the soft conversation of the night around you.

Note: Hushstay x Kamet shares its premises with Hushstay x Meraki and Hushstay x Woodhouse, making it perfect for couples seeking privacy or groups looking to book multiple stays together.

THE SPACE

Named after the Kamet Peak it quietly overlooks, this cabin distills the romance of a “cabin in the woods” into a design that is as poetic as it is practical. Set on a gentle Himalayan slope, it is crafted entirely from locally sourced timber, its form harmonizing with the forest and sky. Glass panels open the interiors to the ever-changing moods of the mountains, blurring the line between shelter and scenery.

The structure unfolds over two levels. On the ground floor, handcrafted rugs soften the polished wooden floors, where a couch and bed invite unhurried lounging. The aesthetics remain warm and unfussy—clean-lined, tactile, and steeped in the natural palette of the surrounding landscape. An innovative foldable dining table tucks away when not in use, making the space as flexible as it is intimate.

A ladder-style staircase leads to the mezzanine, a snug perch beneath the sloping roof. Here, a queen-sized bed rests under the gaze of wraparound windows and two small skylights, offering a near-cinematic frame of the forest canopy by day and starlit skies by night. It’s a favorite for children and dreamers alike, with an atmosphere that feels both adventurous and deeply comforting.

Kamet is designed for togetherness—a space where a small family or a circle of close friends can wake to mountain light, share meals over laughter, and feel the quiet luxury of being far from everything, yet entirely at home.

THE ROOMS

At Kamet, the entire cabin is yours—whether you arrive as a couple, a small family, or a close-knit group of friends. Privacy is paramount here, with every inch curated for intimate moments and shared ease.

The ground floor unfolds into a cozy living and dining space—ideal for slow breakfasts, card games, or curling up on the sofa. A low-floor bed dressed in crisp linens sits near a rustic wooden staircase, with earth-toned rugs adding warmth and texture.

Upstairs, the mezzanine bedroom is a serene retreat with soft neutrals, clean lines, and windows on two sides, flooded with natural light from skylights. As dusk falls, gentle wall lamps create an intimate ambiance, perfect for waking to mountain views or stargazing. Here, simplicity feels luxurious, and every stay becomes a gentle unfolding into comfort, connection, and belonging.
